FBI delegation pays courtesy call on ATU Chief to strengthen counterterrorism cooperation

DHAKA, Dec 7, 2025 (BSS) - A delegation from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), Regional Intelligence Office (RIO) today paid a courtesy call on Additional Inspector General and Chief of the Anti-Terrorism Unit (ATU) Md. Rezaul Karim. 

The meeting held at the ATU Headquarters in Baridhara in the capital aimed at enhancing collaboration in combating terrorism and to further strengthen bilateral cooperation between the two agencies, said a press release.

The delegation was led by outgoing Assistant Legal Attach‚ (ATO) of the FBI (RIO) Robert J. Cameron, who is completing his tenure in Bangladesh. 

He was accompanied by his successor Riley Palmertree, and Police Liaison Officer from the Office of the Legal Attach‚ at the U.S. Embassy Mohammad Aminul Islam.

Senior ATU officials, including DIG (Training & Research) Dr. Md. Akkas Uddin Bhuiyan, DIG (Intelligence & Operations) Mohammad Muslim along with Superintendents of Police from Investigation and Intelligence wings attended the meeting.

During the discussion, the ATU presented an overview of its activities, achievements, and future operational plans. 

Both sides engaged in a productive exchange on collaborative strategies to combat terrorism, reiterating the importance of enhancing information sharing and operational cooperation.

ATU Chief Md. Rezaul Karim expressed his appreciation to Robert J. Cameron for his significant support and contributions during his tenure in Bangladesh. 

He also welcomed Riley Palmertree and conveyed optimism about continued cooperation and strengthened ties between the two agencies in the fight against terrorism.
