KHULNA, Aug 30, 2026 (BSS) - The 23rd anniversary of the transformation of Khulna University of Engineering & Technology (KUET) into a university will be celebrated on September 1 with a series of colourful and festive programmes.
The campus has already taken on a festive look ahead of the celebration of ‘University Day-2026’.
Different parts of the university are being decorated, while final preparations are underway to ensure the day-long programmes are held successfully and in a disciplined manner.
Education Minister and Minister for Primary and Mass Education Dr ANM Ehsanul Haque Milan, MP, will attend the programme as the chief guest, while Bangladesh Parliament Whip Rakibul Islam Bokul, MP, will attend as the special guest.
KUET Vice-Chancellor Prof Dr Muhammad Masud will preside over the programme.
Director of the Institute of Disaster Management (IDM) Prof Dr Muhammad Shahjahan Ali is serving as the president of the University Day-2026 celebration committee.
The day’s programmes will begin at 9am with a reunion in front of the university auditorium.
This will be followed by hoisting the national flag to the tune of the national anthem and inauguration of the University Day, a colourful rally, visits to stalls, a presentation titled “KUET’s Achievements: Heritage and Future”, a discussion and tree plantation, among other programmes.
Several attractive programmes have also been scheduled for the afternoon.
A poster/project presentation will be held on the ground floor of the Student Welfare Centre at 3pm. At the same time, laboratories of different departments of the university will remain open for visitors.
A friendly football match between teachers and students will be held at 4pm, while a doa mahfil will be arranged at the university Central Jame Mosque at 5pm seeking blessings for the welfare of the university, the country and its people.
A cultural programme will be held at the university auditorium at 6pm.
Teachers, students, officials, employees, former students and well-wishers of KUET have expressed enthusiasm over the celebration.
The campus has already become vibrant with various activities centring on the University Day.
The university administration expects the KUET campus to wear a festive look tomorrow as the colourful programmes are being organised with the coordinated efforts of all concerned.
KUET Public Relations Officer (additional charge) Shaheduzzaman Sheikh said all preparations for observing the day have been completed.
