Dr Zubaida Rahman returns to London

DHAKA, Dec 20, 2025 (BSS) - Dr Zubaida Rahman, wife of BNP Acting Chairman Tarique Rahman, has left Dhaka for London after spending two weeks beside her mother-in-law and former Prime Minister Begum Khaleda Zia.

BNP Media Cell member Atiqur Rahman Rumon stated that she departed from Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 8:30 AM today (Saturday) on a London bound Biman Bangladesh Airlines flight (BG-201).

He added, "She has returned to London. Insha'Allah, she will return to the country on Thursday with Tarique Rahman and their daughter Barrister Zaima Rahman."

"The flight departed on schedule. This flight will reach London's Heathrow Airport directly via Sylhet," he noted.

Dr. Zubaida Rahman arrived in Dhaka from London on December 5 to stay by BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia, who is undergoing treatment at Evercare Hospital. As a member of the BNP Chairperson's medical board, Dr Zubaida Rahman constantly monitored the treatment of Begum Zia at Evercare Hospital.

Begum Khaleda Zia is being treated by a medical board comprising local and foreign specialist doctors, led by Professor Shahabuddin Talukdar.

Khaleda Zia was admitted to Evercare Hospital on November 23 due to deterioration of her physical condition, she was moved to the Critical Care Unit (CCU) for treatment.

On Wednesday, Professor AZM Zahid Hossain, a member of the medical board, informed that the BNP Chairperson's physical condition is the most stable it has been in a month. The medical board is hopeful that she will gradually recover.

Following this news, Zubaida Rahman flew back to London to prepare her home after 17 years and return to the country with her husband and daughter.

On September 11, 2008, she travelled to London with her daughter Zaima Rahman for the advanced medical treatment of her ailing husband Tarique Rahman.
