DHAKA, Dec 9, 2025 (BSS)- The authorities of Dhaka University (DU) today 
observed 'Begum Rokeya Day' as part of paying token to her historical 
contribution in the awakening of women in this land.

To mark the occasion, DU Treasurer Professor Dr M Jahangir Alam Chowdhury 
placed a floral wreath at the memorial of Begum Rokeya at Ruqayyah Hall 
premises of the university in the morning.

Ruqayyah Hall Provost Prof Dr Hosne Ara Begum, residential teachers and 
leaders of the hall union were present during the paying of homage.

Paying tribute to the memory of Begum Rokeya, Prof Jahangir Alam Chowdhury 
said, "Begum Rokeya had worked for the advancement of disadvantaged women. 
She is an ideal to follow to build an equitable and discrimination-free 
society."
