DHAKA, Dec 22, 2025 (BSS)- Bangladesh High Commission in Port Louis observed
International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day 2025, highlighting
the vital contributions of Bangladeshi expatriates to host countries and the
national economy.
The programme was held in Port Louis, Mauritius on Sunday while Muhammad Reza
Cassam UTEEM, minister of Labour and Industrial Relations of the Republic of
Mauritius, attending it as the chief guest with Bangladesh High Commissioner
to Mauritius Dr. Zokey Ahad in the chair, said a handout here today.

Hirji, permanent secretary of the Mauritian Ministry of Labour and Industrial
Relations ZB Lallmahomed and Chairman of Al Ihsaan Foundation Shakeel Anarath
were also present.
Messages from the Chief Adviser, the Foreign Affairs Adviser and the
Expatriates Welfare and Overseas Employment Adviser of Bangladesh were read
out by officials of the mission while a documentary on migration and
expatriates was screened during the programme.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Muhammad Reza Cassam UTEEM described the
initiative of the Bangladesh High Commission as commendable and highly
praised Bangladeshi expatriates for their contributions to the development of
Mauritius.
He said his ministry is working to ensure the rights and privileges of
foreign workers and expressed appreciation for the High Commission's role in
caring for Bangladeshi expatriates.
In his remarks, High Commissioner Dr. Zokey Ahad congratulated Bangladeshi
expatriates, describing them as "remittance warriors" for their significant
contribution to Bangladesh's economy.
He urged expatriates living in Mauritius to work with dedication and honesty
to enhance Bangladesh's image and said the High Commission remains committed
to protecting the rights of Bangladeshi citizens.
The High Commissioner also encouraged Bangladeshi expatriates to exercise
their voting rights by participating in the upcoming 13th Parliamentary
National Elections.
About 250 guests, including senior dignitaries of the host country, civil
society members, media personnel, members of the Bangladeshi community,
expatriates, and officials and staff of the Bangladesh High Commission
attended the programme.
