DHAKA, Dec 4, 2025 (BSS) – With the aim of fostering a book-reading culture in society, the Bangladesh Publishers and Book-sellers Association (BAPUS) has planned to organize the ‘Bijoy Book Fair 2025’ for the first time.

The 12-day book fair will be held on the Bangla Academy premises from December 10.
The organizers shared the information at a press conference held this morning at the Al-Mahmud Lekhok Corner of Bangla Academy.

Speaking at the press conference, BAPUS Director Abul Bashar Firoz Sheikh said, “We will try to hold this fair every year from now on, making it a prestigious addition to our national cultural tradition.”

He said the Bijoy Book Fair is expected to emerge as a vibrant event closely connected to national life, with the participation of around 200 publishers, thousands of readers, special events for children and teenagers, documentaries on the Liberation War, and a wide range of book-centered social festivities.

Sharing BAPUS’s plan to organize the fair nationwide from next year, he said book fairs will be arranged in all 64 districts, as well as in various schools, colleges, and universities from 2026.

In May, BAPUS will host the International Children’s Book Fair and the International South-East Asia Book Fair, which will feature international publications and cultural programmes.

Firoz Sheikh noted that children will have the opportunity to familiarize themselves with books, cultures, and educational experiences from various countries around the world.

Authors and publishers from various publication houses were present at the press conference.
