DINAJPUR, Jan 26, 2026 (BSS) - BNP Standing Committee member and Dinajpur-6
parliamentary candidate Dr. AZM Zahid Hossain on Sunday said that the four
upazilas under the Dinajpur-6 constituency have fallen far behind the
country's overall development due to long-term deprivation.

Addressing an election meeting at the Mahmudpur Union Parishad ground in
Nawabganj upazila around 10:00 pm, Dr. Zahid said the people of the area have
been deprived at all levels of development for a long time.

If BNP comes to power in the future through the people's mandate, the party
will take initiatives to ensure comprehensive development of the neglected
Dinajpur-6 constituency, he said.

He assured that development-oriented activities in all sectors would be given
priority.

Dr. Zahid said BNP founder Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman and former Prime
Minister Begum Khaleda Zia always worked for the welfare of the people.

However, he said that the absence of a BNP-elected Member of Parliament (MP)
in the constituency for a long period has disrupted the continuity of
development, leaving the four upazilas deprived.

He also expressed concern that many historical and cultural heritage sites in
the area are disappearing or facing destruction due to lack of proper
supervision.

Calling on voters to support him with the BNP symbol "Sheaf of Paddy", Dr.
Zahid said he wants to work to address these longstanding problems if
elected.

The meeting was organised by Nawabganj Upazila BNP and presided over by its
President Md. Tariqul Islam. Addressing party leaders, activists and local
residents, Dr. Zahid emphasized the need to identify local problems and work
collectively for solutions.
