CHATTOGRAM, Jan 15, 2026 (BSS)- Industry, Public Works and LGRD Advisor Adilur Rahman Khan here today urged all to honor the martyrs of July Uprising by casting ‘Yes’ votes in the upcoming referendum on February 12.

He made the call while inaugurating a colorfully referendum caravan "Voter Ghari" at Ctg Stadium premises this afternoon.

Adilur Rahman also paid tribute to those who sacrificed their lives during the 36 days of July Uprising to free the country from the grip of fascist regime.

The Adviser urged the people to cast ‘Yes’ vote in the upcoming referendum which will coincide with the 13th National Parliament election.

He said this vote is seen as a crucial step towards building a better future for Bangladesh. Over the past 16 years, Bangladesh has faced numerous challenges, including disappearances, murders, and torture. The people, especially students and residents of Chattogram, have endured oppression during the mass uprising of 2024.

“Despite facing oppression, students and people from all walks of life took to the streets under a united platform against fascism. The events of July Uprising were turning point for Bangladesh and the spirit of the uprising has been enshrined in the July National Charter which was signed by all anti-fascist parties,” he added.

He said the referendum aims to establish the principles of the July Charter, as the people have been deprived of their voting rights for 16 years under the fascist regime.

“The country must not endure such oppression again, and the citizens must have the freedom to choose their leaders without fear of persecution. By voting in the Jatiya Sangsad elections and supporting the referendum, we can pave the way for a democratic and prosperous future for Bangladesh,” he added.

Adilur Rahman Khan urged everyone to honor the martyrs on February 12 and to cast vote in favor of the referendum with their families.
