Public Accounts Committee to review audit objections of 10 key ministries

SANGSAD BHABAN, Sept 10, 2026 (BSS) - The Standing Committee on Public Accounts of the 13th Jatiya Sangsad (JS) has decided to review, on a priority basis, audit objections concerning 10 important ministries to ensure proper use of public funds, strengthen accountability and play a more effective role in curbing corruption.

The committee also discussed conducting third-party audits for highly important ministries or divisions with larger budget allocations.

The decisions were taken at the second meeting of the committee held today at the office of the Deputy Leader of the Opposition in the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban, with committee Chairman Syed Abdullah Mohammed Taher in the chair.

The meeting held a detailed review of how the Public Accounts Committee could play a more effective role in combating corruption while ensuring accountability through proper use of public funds.

The meeting also decided to hold at least two meetings every month.

Committee members Md Amanullah Aman, A B M Ashraf Uddin Nizan, A K M Fazlul Haque Milon, Md Hafiz Ibrahim, Dr Md Mahabubur Rahman, S K Azizul Baree, Md Monjurul Islam, Md Fazley Houda, Mohammad Zakir Hossain, Md Nahid Islam and Syed Joynul Abedin attended the meeting.

Senior officials concerned from the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General of Bangladesh and the Jatiya Sangsad Secretariat were present at the meeting.
