COX'S BAZAR, Sept 2, 2026 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 10,000 yaba tablets during an operation along the Ukhiya border in Cox's Bazar on September 1.
Ukhia Battalion (64 BGB) Commander Lt Col Md Zahirul Islam confirmed the seizure today.
He said a special patrol team of Palongkhali Border Outpost (BOP) was conducting a routine patrol in the Noapara border area around 12:10pm when they spotted a person entering Bangladesh from Myanmar.
When the patrol team challenged him, the suspected smuggler fled towards Myanmar, leaving behind a box near Rubel's Gher.
The BGB team subsequently searched the area and recovered 10,000 yaba tablets packed in an airtight plastic packet inside the box.
Lt Col Zahirul said intelligence surveillance has been strengthened to identify and bring the drug suppliers and smugglers involved in the incident to justice.
He added that BGB's anti-smuggling and anti-drug operations would continue.
