NARSINGDI, Sept 2, 2026 (BSS) - A total of Tk 4.55 lakh was realized in fines through seven cases during a daylong drive against illegal gas connections and unauthorized use of gas in different areas of Narsingdi Sadar upazila today.

The drive was conducted by the Narsingdi District Administration in coordination with Titas Gas authorities. During the drive, illegal gas connections were detected at several residential houses and establishments in Patpatti, Dattapara, Shapla and Basail areas of Narsingdi town.

The illegal connections were subsequently disconnected, while 20 gas stoves used illegally were seized. Mobile courts took legal action against the persons concerned under the relevant provisions of the Gas Act, 2010, for obtaining illegal gas connections and using gas without authorization.

The courts imposed and realized fines totaling Tk 4.55 lakh in seven cases. Assistant Commissioner and Executive Magistrate of Narsingdi Md Masud Rana conducted the mobile court.

Officials of Titas Gas and Narsingdi District Police assisted in the drive. The district administration said such drives and legal actions against illegal gas connections and unauthorized use of gas would continue in the public interest.
