RAJSHAHI, Sept 2, 2026 (BSS) - A discussion meeting was held regarding the closure of illegal brick kilns in Rajshahi and the leasing of soil excavated from canal digging. 

In the meeting, it was announced that legal action against unauthorized brick kilns will continue to maintain ecological balance and protect agricultural land.
 
Declaration was also made to continue drives to protect agricultural land and environment, emphasis on transparency in leasing canal excavation soil.
 
The meeting was held today organized by the Rajshahi District Administration and the Department of Environment. It was presided over by Additional Deputy Commissioner of Rajshahi Sabur Ali. 

The meeting was moderated by Deputy Director of Department of Environment Tasmina Khatun.
 
Speakers at the meeting said that there will be no scope for operating brick kilns without approval, damaging the environment, and destroying agricultural land. 

Actions in accordance with the law against illegal brick kilns will continue to protect the ecological balance and conserve agricultural land.
 
At the same time, emphasis was placed on leasing the soil excavated through canal digging following proper rules and government regulations. 
The speakers urged to ensure transparency in soil management as well as proper use of government resources.
 
In his speech, Sabur Ali said everyone must play a responsible role in protecting the environment and conserving agricultural land. 

The administration is in a strict position against illegal brick kilns. At the same time, transparency and proper compliance with government rules and regulations must be ensured in the management of soil from canal excavation.
 
Tasmina Khatun said that the environment and agriculture are being damaged due to illegal brick kilns.
 
Regular drives will be conducted against brick kilns that violate environmental laws. All concerned must ensure eco-friendly activities.
 
Present at the meeting were Additional Superintendent of Police Shariful Islam, Executive Engineer of Bangladesh Water Development Board Arifur Rahman Ankur, Executive Engineer of Roads Division Ahsan Habib, along with leaders of brick kiln owners associations from various upazilas and government and private agriculture officials.
 
The meeting discussed in detail the closure of illegal brick kilns, environmental conservation, protection of agricultural land, and proper compliance with existing laws and regulations in the matter of leasing soil from canal excavation.
