BAGERHAT, Aug 30, 2026 (BSS) - The Bagerhat district BNP will celebrate the party's 48th founding anniversary on September 1 with a series of day-long programmes.
A preparatory meeting was held at the district BNP office on Sunday afternoon, chaired by District BNP Convener Engineer ATM Akram Hossain, where the programme schedule was finalised.
The celebrations will begin in the early morning with the hoisting of the party and national flags. Tree plantation and the release of fish fry will be held at 10am, followed by a discussion meeting at the Bagerhat Zilla Parishad Auditorium at 3pm.
State Minister for Forest, Environment and Climate Affairs Sheikh Faridul Islam will attend the discussion as chief guest. The district BNP, along with its affiliated and associate organisations, will organise the event.
A cultural programme organised by BNP's cultural organisation JASAS will be held in the evening.
At the preparatory meeting, Akram Hossain said the founding anniversary was an important occasion in the party's history and reflected its struggle and commitment to establishing democracy.
He called on party leaders and activists to ensure participation of people from all walks of life in the celebrations.
He said BNP had consistently worked for people's rights, democracy, the rule of law and public welfare, and stressed the need for the party to remain united and organised to meet people's expectations.
Akram Hossain said the anniversary would not be confined to formal programmes, but would also feature public welfare activities. He said tree plantation and fish fry release would contribute to environmental protection and biodiversity conservation.
Leaders of district and upazila BNP units, including Bagerhat Sadar Upazila and Bagerhat Municipality BNP, as well as representatives of affiliated and associate organisations, attended the meeting.
