KHULNA, August 30, 2026 (BSS) - A courtyard meeting was held in Dighalia upazila of the district today to raise awareness and strengthen social efforts to prevent violence against women and children and child marriage.

The meeting was held at the Dighalia Upazila auditorium in the afternoon, organised jointly by the Upazila Administration and the Upazila Women Affairs Office.

Khulna Deputy Commissioner (DC) Hoore Jannat attended the programme as the chief guest, while Dighalia UNO Sujon Das Gupta chaired it.

Addressing the meeting, the DC said violence against women and children and child marriage are major social problems.

The DC urged all concerned to immediately inform the relevant authorities if any incident of child marriage or violence against women and children occurs in their locality.

UNO Sujon Das Gupta said parents and local people need to be more aware alongside the administration to prevent child marriage.

Upazila Women Affairs Officer Nabanita Dutta moderated the meeting.

The meeting discussed various issues, including prevention of violence against women and children, elimination of child marriage, protection of their rights and enhancing social awareness.
