KHULNA, Aug 29, 2026 (BSS) - Police arrested a man with a large quantity of gold and diamond jewellery in Khulna.

The arrested man was identified as Md Saidul, 46, a resident of Muradnagar upazila in Cumilla, according to a press release issued by the KMP on Friday night.

He currently lives in the Ambagicha Khalpar area of Keraniganj in Dhaka.

According to Harintana Police Station Officer-in-Charge Helal Uddin, a team of the police station arrested him around noon on Friday while conducting a check in front of Janani Enterprise near the Zero Point intersection on the Khulna-Satkhira highway, the press release said.

Police recovered three gold chains, a diamond-studded gold locket, 45 diamond-studded gold nose pins, 12 pairs of earrings, eight lockets, three rings and two bracelets from his possession.

A case was filed against Saidul with Harintana Police Station under Sections 25(B) and 25(D) of the Special Powers Act, 1974.

Police said an investigation is underway to determine whether the recovered jewellery was brought into the country through smuggling channels.
