KHULNA, Aug 28, 2026 (BSS)- Khulna Deputy Commissioner Hoore Jannat today called for creating public awareness to prevent wastage of electricity, ensure its efficient use and promote use of solar power.

She made the call while addressing a public awareness meeting on saving electricity and increasing the use of solar power at KDA New Market premises here today.

The meeting was jointly organised by Khulna District Administration and the West Zone Power Distribution Company Limited.

Businesspeople and leaders of the KDA New Market Shop Owners’ Association, along with officials of the district administration and OZOPADICO, attended the meeting. 

The speakers said preventing misuse of electricity has become an important demand of the time amid the country’s growing demand for power.

They urged people to develop the habit of using electricity consciously while stressing the need to increase the use of renewable energy, including solar power.

They said pressure on conventional electricity could be reduced by using solar power according to the requirements of business establishments, households and other facilities.
Public awareness, alongside government initiatives, is also crucial to ensuring efficient use of electricity, they said.
