CHATTOGRAM, Aug 28, 2026 (BSS) - Police today arrested a suspected yaba dealer with 7,000 yaba tablets and an unregistered motorcycle in Banshkhali upazila of the district.

The arrested person was identified as Md Yakub Ali, 42, son of late Mohir Uddin of Kotubpur Gabra area under Mithipur union of Pirganj police station in Rangpur district.

Police said a team of Banshkhali police station conducted a drive based on a tip-off in the Charar Bridge area of Chambal union this morning. During the drive, the team intercepted an unregistered black-and-silver GPX Demon motorcycle and searched it.

The police recovered 7,000 yaba tablets concealed beside the motorcycle's fuel tank and subsequently seized the drugs and impounded the motorcycle.

SI Md Arif Hossain, operations officer of Banshkhali police station said the yaba tablets were hidden in an unusual manner next to the fuel tank.

Police said a case would be filed against Yakub under the Narcotics Control Act and he would be produced before a court.

Md Rabiul Haque, officer-in-charge of Banshkhali police station, said police operations against drug trafficking and distribution would continue to keep the upazila free from drugs.
