RAJSHAHI, Aug 28, 2026 (BSS)- A tree plantation program has been inaugurated in the livestock institutions of Rajshahi district with the slogan "We will decorate the country with trees, Bangladesh first".

The tree plantation program was inaugurated this afternoon at the Metro Livestock Office and Veterinary Hospital at Talaimari in the city.
 
Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Mahfuzur Rahman Riton was present as the chief guest while Director General (DG) of the Department of Livestock Services (DLS) Shahjaman Khan was in the chair.
 
At the event, the chief guest and other guests distributed tree saplings among the officials of the livestock institutions.
 
In his speech, RCC Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman is working to build a new Bangladesh and improve the fate of toiling masses.

Many points of the 31-point outline announced by the Prime Minister have already been implemented, he said.
 
He said there is no alternative to tree plantation to protect the balance of the environment. Trees not only protect the environment, but also deeply linked with human life and livelihood. 

Through tree plantation in the courtyards and vacant spaces of livestock institutions, it is possible to increase greenery as well as make these institutions more aesthetic and environment-friendly, he said.
 
Under the program, saplings of various species of fruit, forest and medicinal trees will be planted in the courtyards and vacant spaces of the DLS of Rajshahi district and related institutions.
