JAMALPUR, Aug 27, 2026(BSS) - A farmer was electrocuted in Madarganj Upazila of the district this morning.

The victim was identified as Azaharul Mandol, 55 son of Tofil Mandol at village Char Shuvagachha in Madarganj Upazila of the district.

Police said Azaharul switched on his electric driven water pump to irrigate his field.Due to mechanical fault the machine suddenly stopped and electrified the tube well. When he touched the tube well he was electrified and injured. 

He was rushed to Madarganj health complex, where the attending doctor referred him to Jamalpur general hospital but he succumbed on way to the hospital.

Officer -In-charge, Madarganj police station, Snehashish Roy said the body was handed over to his family members after inquiry.
