PANCHAGARH, Aug 27, 2026 (BSS) - A six-year-old boy named Rohan drowned while taking a bath in Nagar river in the Balapara area under Atwari upazila of the district.
The deceased Rohan, a second-grade student at a local primary school, was the son of Ramzan Ali of Sukati village in the upazila. He went to Balapara to visit his maternal grandfather's house.
According to family sources, Rohan had gone to his maternal grandfather's house in Balapara village with his mother the day before yesterday. On Thursday morning, he went to take a bath in the river with several children from the area around his grandfather's home.
After learning that he went missing, local residents immediately began searching the river. At one point, they rescued Rohan and provided him with necessary first aid locally, but efforts to save him were unsuccessful. He died on the way to the hospital.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Atwari Police Station Matiar Rahman confirmed Rohan's death to BSS.
