RANGPUR, Aug 27, 2026 (BSS) - Rangpur Metropolitan Police (RpMP) Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud was given a farewell reception today on the occasion of his transfer as DIG of Rangpur Range and handover of responsibility.
On this occasion of his transfer and joining new job after being transferred as DIG of Rangpur Range, RpMP arranged the farewell reception at its conference room in the city.
RpMP Additional Police Commissioner Naresh Chakma, Additional Police Commissioners Toffael Ahmed, Maruf Ahmed and Sanatan Chakraborty and other senior police officers were present at the event.
Outgoing RpMP Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud gave a directional speech to the senior officers and members of RpMP on the eve of assuming his new responsibility as DIG of Rangpur Range.
He expressed gratitude for the sincere cooperation of his colleagues during his working period at the RpMP.
He called on everyone to fulfill the assigned responsibilities with honesty, dedication and professionalism without getting disappointed in responsibilities and posts.
"Every police member must fulfill duties within the law and rules, keeping the interests of the organization foremost. No illegal decision can be taken at the request of any person or organization," he said.
At the same time, he emphasized on maintaining mutual cooperation, sympathy and professional unity among police members.
"Equal importance should be given to the welfare and needs of subordinate members as well as senior officers. If a member is in danger, he needs to be helped and in case of mistakes, a legal and humane approach should be maintained," he said.
Referring to the sensational Machhuapara quadruple murders in Rangpur city, he said that in any important incident, it is very important to collect information quickly, analyze it properly, organize activities and prepare regular updates.
He urged the police members to regularly study laws, rules and regulations, important cases and recent policing issues.
"The police job is a continuous learning process and it is necessary to keep knowledge and skills updated regularly in performing duties," he viewed.
He emphasized on maintaining good relations with the public as well as regular communication and information exchange with people from different classes and professions.
Noting that during his tenure at RpMP, efforts have been made to make coordination and teamwork between different units more effective in a short period of time, he said this continuity should be maintained in the future as well.
He said, "We have to uphold the dignity of the institution through our behavior, sense of responsibility and professionalism."
