RAJSHAHI, Aug 27, 2026 (BSS) - The first meeting of the Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC) Committee on Prevention of Dengue and Other Mosquito-Borne Diseases was held today.
The meeting was held at noon in the meeting room of Nagar Bhaban, with RCC Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, chairman of the committee, in the chair.
In his speech, Administrator Mahfuzur Rahman Riton said the RCC has taken various initiatives to prevent dengue, including creating public awareness, spraying fog to control mosquitoes, destroying mosquito larvae at breeding sites, and conducting special cleanliness drives.
However, the initiatives of the city corporation alone are not enough; city dwellers also need to remain vigilant to prevent dengue.
Everyone must keep their homes and surrounding areas clean and tidy and ensure that water does not accumulate anywhere, creating mosquito breeding grounds.
He further said, “Our efforts to rebuild the metropolis anew in implementation of the directives of Prime Minister Tarique Rahman are continuing. We are working tirelessly to build a cleaner, more beautiful and dengue-free Rajshahi metropolis. We seek the cooperation of city residents in this work.”
At the meeting, the member secretary of the committee and RCC Chief Health Officer Dr. FAM Anjuman Ara Begum presented a detailed documentary on the dengue situation and measures needed in Rajshahi City Corporation.
RCC Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim, Secretary Sohel Rana, Superintending Engineer Khairul Baker, Chief Conservancy Officer Sheikh Mamun, committee member Professor Masudul Hasan Khan Mukto of Rajshahi University, Deputy Director of the Divisional Director Health Office Dr. Rozy Ara Khatun, among others, were present at the meeting.
