RAJSHAHI, August 27, 2026 (BSS) - On one side, the helpless face of a six-year-old innocent child, on the other, a man suffering from prolonged abdominal pain.

Although they needed to go to India for treatment, when their hopes were almost fading due to visa complications, the Indian Assistant High Commission in Rajshahi stood by them as a bright example of humanity.

After hearing of their suffering and quickly arranging visas, a light of relief has returned to the eyes of the two families. 

Mahatab Ali Mehedi's six-year-old daughter Muntaha Sidratul, a resident of Mathurapur area of Tanore Upazila, is suffering from a brain problem.

According to specialist doctors, the child needs to be taken to India quickly for advanced treatment. But her father Mahatab was uncertain about the treatment due to visa complications.

This morning, with almost his last hope, he went to the office of the Indian Assistant High Commissioner located at House No. 316 in the Padma Residential Area of the city.

There, he spoke with Indian Assistant High Commissioner Manoj Kumar. After hearing about the child's illness and the family's suffering, he quickly arranged for a visa. 

Mahatab Ali Mehedi said, “We were very worried about our daughter's treatment. Due to visa complications, it seemed we would not be able to arrange treatment in time. We are sincerely grateful to the Indian Assistant High Commissioner for considering the matter humanely and issuing the visa quickly.” 

On the same day, Shariful Islam, a resident of Miapur area under Rajpara Police Station, also came for a visa for treatment of his long-term stomach problem.

After falling ill with severe stomach pain the previous evening, he contacted the Assistant High Commissioner on the advice of a neighbour.

Later, he expressed relief after getting his visa quickly. 

Shariful Islam said, “I suffered a lot on Wednesday evening due to illness. I got the number from a neighbour, contacted them, and came here today and got quick help. I am sincerely grateful to the Indian Assistant High Commissioner for easing the way for my treatment.” 

This initiative to open the path for treatment for two sick people has become a positive example of humanitarian assistance in Rajshahi.
