KURIGRAM, July 9, 2026 (BSS) – A couple was electrocuted in the district today.

The deceased were identified as Abu Sayeed, 68, and his wife, Rabeya Begum, 60, residents of Baldipara village under Ulipur Paurasava in the district.

Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Ulipur Police Station Sayed Ibn Siddique said Abu Sayeed came into contact with a live electric current after touching an electrical board at around 2:30 pm.

Seeing him convulsing, his wife, Rabeya Begum, rushed to rescue him. However, without taking any safety precautions, she tried to pull him away and was also electrocuted. Abu Sayeed died on the spot, while Rabeya Begum succumbed to her injuries shortly afterward.
