KHULNA, July 28, 2026 (BSS) - A preparatory meeting for the divisional-level 
observance of "Nazrul Year" was held on Tuesday afternoon at the conference 
room of the Khulna Divisional Commissioner.

Divisional Commissioner Md. Abdullah Harun presided over the meeting.

Addressing the meeting, the Divisional Commissioner said National Poet Kazi 
Nazrul Islam was a versatile literary genius and a symbol of humanity, 
equality, secularism and nationalism. 

He described Nazrul as the poet of rebellion whose contributions to modern 
Bangla songs, literature and world literature remain unparalleled.

Abdullah Harun said the Nazrul Year would be celebrated across the division 
in a befitting and festive manner and sought the cooperation of all concerned 
to ensure the successful implementation of the programmes.

Among others, Additional Divisional Commissioner (General) Abu Sayeed Md. 
Monjur Alam, Deputy Director of the Ansar and VDP Range Office SM Azim Uddin, 
Superintendent of Police at the Range DIG Office Md. Kamrul Islam, Acting 
Deputy Chief Information Officer of the Khulna Regional Information Office 
Md. Mehdi Hasan, officials of different government departments, teachers, 
Nazrul researchers, media representatives, NGO officials and representatives 
of socio-cultural organisations attended the meeting.

The meeting was informed that music, dance, painting, recitation and 
extempore speech competitions would be organised as part of the Nazrul Year 
celebrations.
