RANGPUR, July 28, 2026 (BSS) - The Detective Branch (DB) of Rangpur
Metropolitan Police (RpMP) in an anti-drug drive has arrested an alleged drug
dealer with various drugs from the Islampur Honumantola area under Kotwali
Police Station in the metropolis.
The arrested was Shakil Mridha, 40, son of Shahjahan of the Islampur
Honumantola area of Ward No 23 of the metropolis.
Under the direction of RpMP Commissioner Mohammad Abdul Mabud, the operation
was conducted by the DB Police on Monday afternoon as part of a continuous,
precise and effective operation to implement the zero tolerance policy
against drugs, said a press release.
The seized drugs during the raid included 11 grams of heroin, 15 pieces of
Yaba tablets and 250 grams of ganja.
Legal action has been taken against the arrested person.
"The RpMP's intelligence activities and operations are continuing to prevent
the spread of illegal drugs, identify drug dealers, and bring the criminals,
whoever they may be, under the law," the release added.
