KHULNA, June 20, 2026 (BSS) - Newly appointed Chairman of the Khulna Development Authority (KDA) and President of Khulna City Unit BNP Advocate Shafiqul Alam Mona today called upon all sections of people to work together, setting aside differences, to transform Khulna into a modern, planned, environmentally friendly and livable city.
Speaking at a reception accorded to him by the Khulna Diabetic Association this afternoon, Mona said Khulna, situated on the banks of the Rupsha and Bhairab rivers, belongs to all its residents and should be developed through collective efforts.

The newly appointed chairman pledged to eliminate bureaucratic complexities, corruption and public harassment within the institution.
"Every file in KDA will move strictly according to rules. Irregularities and under-the-table transactions will not be tolerated," he said.
Outlining KDA's future plans, he said the authority would not remain confined to approving building designs or allocating plots, but would focus on addressing housing challenges, modernising parks and recreational facilities and implementing the city's master plan to ease traffic congestion.
He expressed hope that KDA would work in close coordination with Khulna City Corporation (KCC), WASA, district administration and other service organisations to implement the city's development master plan.
Mona also praised the Khulna Diabetic Association for providing affordable healthcare services to underprivileged people over the years.
