RAJSHAHI, April 18, 2026 (BSS) - A special cleanliness initiative was observed at the Rajshahi Divisional Commissioner's Office today as part of the nationwide campaign to prevent dengue and chikungunya.

In line with government directives, officials and staff of the office voluntarily took part in a cleaning drive on the premises, continuing the weekly nationwide cleanliness programme held every Saturday.

During the drive, officers and employees cleaned office rooms, corridors, staircases and railings themselves. They also worked alongside the regular cleaning staff, which was seen as a positive example of teamwork and responsibility.

Among those participating were Additional Divisional Commissioners Rezaul Alam Sarkar and Habibur Rahman, and Additional Deputy Commissioner Belayet Hossain, who personally engaged in cleaning activities.

Divisional Commissioner Dr. A. N. M. Bazlur Rashid said cleanliness is essential for preventing diseases such as dengue and chikungunya. 

He added that maintaining a clean workplace and surrounding environment sends a positive message to society, stressing that it is both a civic duty and a moral responsibility alongside government instructions.

Stakeholders believe such initiatives will help raise awareness not only within government offices but also among the general public about the importance of cleanliness and public health protection.
