JAMALPUR, Aug 5, 2026 (BSS) - July Uprising Day was observed in the district today with various programmes.

The district administration organised wreath laying at the July Memorial, a discussion, reception for families of martyrs and injured and special prayers.

Lawmaker Advocate Shah Md Wares Ali Mamun paid tribute to the July martyrs by placing a wreath at the memorial on the premises of Government Ashek Mahmud College.

He was accompanied by Jamalpur Zila Parishad Chairman Md Sirazul Haque, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Yusuf Ali and Superintendent of Police Mst Farhana Yesmin.

Later, a discussion and reception for the families of July martyrs and the injured were held at the Jamalpur Shilpakala Academy auditorium.

Improved meals were served to inmates of hospitals, jails, orphanages, child rehabilitation centres and welfare centres for persons with disabilities marking the day.Also essay writing, poem recitation, art competitions were organized.

The Information Department also screened documentaries and films on the July movement at different places in the town.
