July Mass Uprising Day observed in Dinajpur

DINAJPUR, Aug 5, 2026 (BSS) - July Mass Uprising Day was observed in the district today with due respect and a series of commemorative programmes, including the laying of wreaths, discussions and a reception for the families of martyrs and July fighters.

According to the district administration's schedule, public representatives, government officials, and people from all walks of life paid tribute by placing wreaths at the local July Memorial from the morning until noon. 

The observance formally began with the laying of floral wreaths at the memorial. The tributes were offered by Dinajpur-3 Member of Parliament Syed Jahangir Alam, Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rafiqul Islam and Superintendent of Police Mohammad Zedan Al Musa. They were followed by representatives of the district administration, police, political parties and July fighters.

Later, a reception was held at the Shishu Academy Auditorium in honour of the families of those martyred in the 2024 July Mass Uprising and the July fighters.

Speaking as the chief guest at a discussion meeting chaired by Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Rafiqul Islam, MP Syed Jahangir Alam described the 2024 July Mass Uprising as a movement that led to the fall of Awami League government. 

He said the movement had paved the way for a fair election and greater public participation in the democratic process. 

Among others, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Zedan Al Musa, Additional Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Habibul Hasan and Dinajpur District BNP Vice-President Mohammad Khalekuzzaman Babu also addressed the meeting.
