RANGAMATI, April 16, 2026 (BSS) – Members of the Bangladesh Army rescued 11 civilians, including women and children, unhurt after a boat capsized in the remote Jurachhari upazila of the district.

The incident took place on Wednesday night in the Karbari Para area, north of the Rajmonipara Army Camp under Jurachhari Zone (BOP-2), where around 11 individuals from the local Tripura community—men, women and children—were travelling by boat.

The boat reportedly lost balance and sank due to a sudden mechanical glitch during the journey.

On receiving information, an army patrol team quickly reached the scene and launched an immediate rescue operation.

Senior Warrant Officer Md. Moazzem Hossain of Rajmonipara Army Camp told BSS that army personnel, risking their lives, entered the river in darkness and successfully rescued all passengers.

The rescued passengers expressed deep gratitude to the army.
