COX’S BAZAR, April 13, 2026 (BSS) - The beach city of Cox's Bazar has been decked out in colorful attire for Pohela Boishakh. Although expected bookings at hotels and resorts haven't materialized, various arrangements have been made for tourists. Boishakhi festivals are also being organized on the beach sand.

At the star-rated Ocean Paradise Hotel on the beachfront, last-minute preparations for Pohela Boishakh are in full swing. The hotel premises have been brightened with traditional alpana designs, and artists' final brushstrokes are bringing the essence of Boishakh to life.

The touch of Boishakh has been added to the decorations both inside and outside the hotel. Stalls for a Boishakhi fair have been set up, and banners for various events have been hung. Although expected bookings haven't been received, the hotel management has left no shortfall in arrangements to delight tourists.

Syed Alamgir, Public Relations Officer of Ocean Paradise Hotel, said, "This year, a four-day Boishakhi fair has been organized at Ocean Paradise. There will be a children's drawing competition, separate games for men and women, and a cultural program in the evening."

Boishakhi festivals are also being held on the beach sand, not just in hotels. The entire area is buzzing with cultural programs and Boishaki fairs. Those associated with the tourism sector hope that the arrival of tourists will increase during the New Year, revitalizing the tourism industry.

Inspector Zahid Hossain of the Tourist Police said, "On the occasion of Pohela Boishakh, there is a larger gathering of tourists than usual in Cox's Bazar. Therefore, a three-tier security measure has been taken this year.”

He added that under special arrangements, mobile and Honda teams will patrol 24 hours a day in two shifts for three days.
