KHULNA, April 8, 2026 (BSS) - Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) arrested two suspected armed terrorists, including a listed criminal, during separate drives in the city.

The arrestees were identified as Bappi Munshi, 30, son of Musa Munshi, and his accomplice Gias Khalifa, 30, son of Alam Khalifa, according to a RAB-6 press release issued this morning.

Both are residents of the Jabdipur area under Khan Jahan Ali Police Station.

The release said, acting on a tip-off, a special operational team of RAB-6 conducted separate drives in the Jabdipur area on Tuesday around 3 pm and arrested Bappi and Gias Khalifa from the spot.

According to RAB sources, Bappi Munshi is accused in at least nine cases filed with different police stations in the Khulna Metropolitan area, including Daulatpur, Khan Jahan Ali and Khalishpur.

The cases include two murder cases, two extortion cases and others related to attempted murder, narcotics, assault and attacks on police personnel.

On the other hand, Gias Khalifa has been accused in a murder case filed with Daulatpur Police Station and is listed as a criminal.

RAB officials said both are reportedly linked to a notorious extremist group known locally as the Huma Group.

The arrested persons were later handed over to the Detective Branch (DB) of Khulna Metropolitan Police for further legal action, the release added.
