RAJSHAHI, June 9, 2026 (BSS) - A programming competition for school and college students was held in Rajshahi with the aim of enhancing students'
skills in information technology and fostering interest in competitive programming.

The day-long event was organized today by the Rajshahi regional office of the Bangladesh Computer Council (BCC) at the BCC Computer Lab located in the
Daily Barta Complex in Alupatti, Rajshahi. Students from grades 9 to 12, as well as those studying up to the fourth semester of polytechnic institutes, participated in the competition.

According to the organizers, a total of 93 students applied to take part. Due to limited seating capacity, a preliminary assessment test was conducted on
June 7. Based on the results of that test, 40 students were selected for the final round.

The competition required participants to solve various programming problems using the C, C++, and Python programming languages. Their problem-solving
ability, logical reasoning, and programming skills were evaluated through these challenges.

A prize-giving and closing ceremony was held after the competition. The chief guest was Sanat Kumar Das, Manager (Internship) of the Bangladesh
Computer Council.

Special guest was Md. Sajib Hossain, Assistant Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Rajshahi University of Engineering &
Technology (RUET). The event was chaired by Laila Arjuman Banu, Acting Regional Director of BCC Rajshahi.

Pabon Ahsan Evan, a student of Natore Government Boys' High School, secured first place in the competition. He received a prize bond worth Tk 10,000,
along with a crest and certificate. Md. Jobayer Hossain Jisan won second place and received a Tk 8,000 prize bond, a crest, and a certificate.

Aurab Azad secured third place and was awarded a Tk 6,000 prize bond, a crest, and a certificate. Other officials from BCC Rajshahi were also present at the event.

The organizers stated that such initiatives play an important role in developing students' problem-solving abilities, logical thinking, and information technology skills. They expressed hope that similar competitions would continue to be organized in the future.
