CUMILLA, Apr 02, 2026 (BSS) – A dilapidated wall of a restaurant  in Chandina upazila here collapsed killing an old man on the spot this morning, police and witnesses said.

“The deceased was identified as Abdus Samad, 65, father-in-law of the hotel owner . . . The accident occurred at around 8:30 am today in the Bagur Bazar area adjacent to the Bagur bus stand of the Upazila,” Officer-in-Charge (OC) Chandina Police Station Atiqur Rahman told BSS.

A resident of Shaktala village of Debidwar Upazila, the victim died on the spot where he was working at the cash table of the hotel like other days, the OC added.

 Getting information, the members of law enforcement agency and locals recovered the body and handed over to police.

An unnatural death (UD) case has been lodged with the concerned police station.
