RAJSHAHI, March 31, 2026 (BSS) - To enhance citizen services, Administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation (RCC), Mahfuzur Rahman Riton, has urged an increase in revenue collection.
He gave this directive today during an exchange meeting with officials of the Revenue Department at the administrator's conference room in the City Corporation building.
At the meeting, the administrator called for increasing revenue collection in the current fiscal year by next June, surpassing that of the previous three fiscal years.
At the meeting, the RCC Administrator, Mahfuzur Rahman, said that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has given him the opportunity to serve the residents of Rajshahi city.
"We want to provide proper services to the citizens. To improve civic services, along with collecting current and outstanding taxes from both government and private sectors, we must create new sources of revenue in accordance with the law."
"We need to identify sectors where the City Corporation is being deprived of revenue and take appropriate measures," he added.
Addressing the officials, the administrator said, "You should maintain cordial and respectful behavior with the citizens. Please assist me in ensuring civic services for the residents. I will extend my full cooperation to you. Necessary steps will be taken in accordance with the law to motivate tax collectors."
During the meeting, the administrator also provided various directives to build a traffic congestion-free and clean Rajshahi metropolitan city.
The meeting was attended by RCC Chief Executive Officer Rezaul Karim, Secretary Sohel Rana, Chief Revenue Officer Abu Saleh Nur-e-Saeed, Revenue Officer Sarwar Hossain Khokon and Taxation Officer (Market) Abul Bashar Tajuddin.
