KHULNA, Feb 15, 2026 (BSS) – The district administration would regular monitor the kitchen markets by regularly conducting mobile court drives during the holy month of Ramadan to keep prices of essentials commodities stable.
The decision was taken today at the monthly meeting of the Khulna District Development Coordination Committee at the conference room of the deputy commissioner’s office with Deputy Director of the Local Government Division Md Ariful Islam in the chair.
The chair expressed gratitude to all officials engaged in the 13th National Parliamentary Election and referendum for ensuring free, fair and peaceful polls.
The Assistant Director of the Directorate of National Consumer Rights Protection informed the meeting that daily market monitoring and mobile court drives would be carried out during Ramadan to keep prices of essentials under control.
Additional Superintendent of Police (B-Circle) Md Khairul Anam said the parliamentary election was successfully completed through coordinated efforts of all stakeholders, not only law enforcement agencies. He added that support would be extended to the Fisheries Department to prevent “jelly push-in” in export oriented shrimp.
Deputy Director of the Department of Agricultural Extension Agriculturist Md. Nazrul Islam said the district achieved 95 percent of its Aman cultivation target, while 92 percent of the Irri cultivation target is expected to be achieved.
He informed the meeting that adequate stocks of fertiliser are available for agricultural use.
District Fisheries Officer Md. Badruzzaman said a total of 126 drives and 30 mobile courts were conducted to recover nets harmful to fish resources, destroying 366 illegal nets and realising Tk 40,000 in fines.
To prevent jelly push-in in export-quality shrimp, 18 drives and two mobile courts were conducted, seizing and destroying 38.5 kg of push and collecting Tk 75,500 in fines.
The Deputy Director of the Islamic Foundation Bangladesh requested that a portion of Zakat during Ramadan be contributed to the Foundation’s Zakat Board, which is exempt from income tax.
Additional Deputy Commissioner (General) Bitan Kumar Mondal, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mosha. Mahfuza Khatun and officials from various government departments, among others, attended the meeting.
