4 medical facilities closed in Cumilla

CUMILLA, Aug 3, 2026 (BSS) - The Health Department has temporarily shut down two private healthcare facilities-Prime Hospital and Delta Hospital-in Cumilla following an inspection drive.

The inspection team also ordered the closure of the laboratory units of Evergreen Hospital and Mission Hospital here.

Medical Officers Shafiqul Islam and Osman Hossain Jabir of the Cumilla Civil Surgeon's Office conducted the drives.

During the inspection, the medical officers examined the registration documents, applications and approval papers for diagnostic services, patient wards, pathology laboratories, operation theatres and other healthcare services of the four hospitals.

The inspection team subsequently took action against the institutions based on its findings.

Medical Officer Jabir said Prime Hospital, located in the Racecourse area of Cumilla city, had changed its address without obtaining the required
approval, while Delta Hospital failed to provide the necessary registration documents.

As a result, both hospitals were ordered to remain temporarily closed, he said.

He added that laboratory units at Mission Hospital and Evergreen Hospital were ordered to shut down after evidence was found that they had been
conducting unauthorized diagnostic tests.

Medical Officer Shafiqul Islam said the Health Department expects doctors working at hospitals under inspection to cooperate with the authorities.

He said physicians should verify whether a healthcare facility possesses all required legal approvals before beginning practice there.
