BARGUNA, Feb 12, 2026 (BSS) - Defying the weight of age, 105-year-old Moklesur Rahman cast his vote in Barguna district today, expressing joy at being able to participate a peaceful election.

Rahman arrived at the Mollar Hora Government Primary School polling center in Dhalua Union under Barguna Sadar Upazila at around 10:30 am. Leaning on a walking stick and assisted by his 60-year-old son, Saidul Islam, the centenarian made his way to the booth despite difficulty walking.

Speaking after casting his ballot, Rahman said he was delighted to be able to vote at his age. "Even at this age, I was able to come to the center and vote peacefully. I am very happy to see such a peaceful election after a long time," he said.

His son said that although Rahman faces mobility challenges, he was determined to exercise his democratic right. "He strongly wished to vote, so I brought him to the center," Saidul Islam added.

Local voters said the presence of the elderly voter, leaning on a stick and supported by his son, inspired many at the polling station. They described his determination to vote at such an advanced age as a reflection of patriotism and civic responsibility.

Md. Fazlul Karim, Presiding Officer of the Mollar Hora Government Primary School center, said special assistance was being provided to elderly and physically ill voters to ensure they could cast their ballots without difficulty.
