CHATTOGRAM, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - Chattogram district police recovered nine country-made single-barrel guns during a special raid in the Bhujpur area of Fatikchhari upazila late last night.
The raid was conducted in the Baromasia Tea Garden area following a secret tip-off. Additional Superintendent of Police Kazi Md. Tarek Aziz and Officer-in-Charge of Bhujpur Police Station Bipul Chandra Dey led the operation.
Police said the firearms were found inside two sacks abandoned in a forest area about 500 yards behind the Baromasia Tea Garden Government Primary School around 2:00 am.
OC Bipul Chandra Dey said the recovered weapons were suspected to have been kept for criminal and terrorist activities aimed at creating chaos and establishing control in the area.
He added that a case would be filed against unidentified persons under the Arms Act. Police noted that previous operations in Bhujpur and other parts of Fatikchhari had also resulted in the recovery of locally made firearms.
The district police said special operations would be intensified to prevent terrorist activities and maintain peace and security in the region.
