JHENAIDAH, Dec 2, 2025 (BSS) - A policeman was killed in a road accident at the Talmil-Baluhar Bus Stand area under Kotchandpur upazila of the district this morning.

The deceased was identified as Anisur Rahman Anis, 45, son of late freedom fighter Mohiuddin Biswas of Ramnagar village in Darshana upazila of Chuadanga district. He was serving as a wireless operator at Kotchandpur Police Station.

The accident took place around 8am when a speeding truck ran over Anis and fled the scene while he was standing beside the road after getting down from a bus. He died on the spot.

Confirming the incident, Kotchandpur Police Station Officer-in-Charge Kabir Hossain Matubbar said a drive is underway to identify and trace the fleeing truck and its driver.
