NATORE, Dec 2, 2025 (BSS) - The National Consumer Rights Protection Department has fined a man Taka 50,000 for producing adulterated jaggery by using harmful substances in Lalpur upazila of the district.
A team led by Md. Ibrahim Hossain, Deputy Director of the department's Rajshahi Divisional Office, conducted the drive around 12 noon on Tuesday.
During the operation in the Balitita Islampur area, officials discovered jaggery being manufactured with textile dye and lime-both of dangerous
for human consumption.
The producer, Omar Ali, was fined on the spot. Authorities also seized around 100 kg of adulterated jaggery, 40 kg of lime, and one kilogram of textile dye, all of which were subsequently destroyed.
Md. Nazmul Hasan, Assistant Director of the Natore District Office, said that such drives will continue to protect public health and consumer rights.
