LAKSHMIPUR, Dec 1, 2025 (BSS) – The district Intelligence Bureau in a drive uncovered an illegal arms-manufacturing facility in Chandraganj Bazar of the district and recovered a pistol and a large cache of weapons-making equipment.
The raid was conducted on Monday afternoon by a team of the District Intelligence Bureau, led by its Officer-in-Charge Md. Shahadat Hossain Titu.
According to police and local sources, the workshop had been operating covertly for a long time. Its owner, Nur Uddin Jitu, son of Abdul Gofran from the Jagdishpur area of Begumganj, had rented a shop in Chandraganj West Bazar and set up a workshop where various types of arms—including locally made LGs—were allegedly being manufactured.
Acting on a secret tip-off, the intelligence team raided the workshop around noon on Monday. Sensing the presence of law enforcement, Nur Uddin fled away before the team arrived.
In the presence of local traders and residents, the police searched the workshop and recovered a pistol along with a significant amount of equipment used to produce homemade weapons.
Confirming the operation, OC Md. Shahadat Hossain Titu said that Nur Uddin had long been secretly engaged in illegal arms production and sales. He added that efforts are underway to arrest the fugitive workshop owner. A case under the Arms Act is currently being prepared.
