BAGERHAT, Nov 30, 2025 (BSS) - The Bangladesh Coast Guard (BCG) has recovered 62 rare turtles during an anti-smuggling operation conducted in Khulna’s Rupsa area on Sunday morning.

Acting on a tip-off, personnel from Coast Guard Station Khulna carried out a special operation near the Rupsa Toll Plaza around 8.00 am and recovered the turtles after searching a passenger bus.

According to the Coast Guard, the bus driver and his helper were released on bail at the scene, along with the vehicle. The confiscated turtles were later handed over to the Khulna Wildlife Management and Nature Conservation Division for legal proceedings.

Lieutenant Commander Muntasir Ibne Mohsin, media officer of the Coast Guard West Zone, confirmed the recovery and said that similar operations would continue to safeguard the biodiversity and wildlife of the Sundarbans.
