RANGPUR, Nov 29, 2025 (BSS) - Police arrested Lincoln Chowdhury, elder brother of Abul Kalam Md Ahsanul Haque Chowdhury, former MP of Rangpur-2 (Badarganj-Taraganj) and a presidium member of the banned Awami Jubo League, from Bogura this afternoon.

Rangpur Range DIG Aminul Islam told reporters that Lincoln was taken into custody around 3 pm following a raid on a bus bound for Debiganj in Panchagarh via the Bogura highway, based on a secret tip-off.

"He has multiple cases in Rangpur district, including attacks on anti-discrimination student movement protesters, attempted murder, conspiracy against the government, and terrorist and subversive activities after August 5, 2024," the DIG said.

Lincoln Chowdhury, who previously controlled contracting businesses in Badarganj and Rangpur, was also part of a syndicate accused of funding efforts to suppress the anti-discrimination student movement in the region.

Police said arrangements have been made to bring Lincoln Chowdhury from Bogura to Rangpur for further investigation.
