DINAJPUR, Nov 29, 2025 (BSS) - Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) has provided free medical services and distributed winter clothing among the underprivileged residents of the border area in Dinajpur’s Biral upazila.
Lt. Col. Abdullah Al Moin Hussain, Commander of Dinajpur BGB-42 Battalion, confirmed the initiative in a press release issued at 1.30 pm today.
According to him, the program was organized and managed by Dinajpur 42 Border Guard Battalion from 10 am to 2 pm.
The event was inaugurated at 10 am at the Dakshin Meragaon Government Primary School ground in Dharmapur union, near the Biral border, by Colonel Mohammad Faisal Hasan Khan, Sector Commander of Dinajpur, as the chief guest.
In his speech, Colonel Khan emphasized the dual role of the BGB, stating that its members not only safeguard the nation’s borders but also provide humanitarian services to border communities.
“We feel proud to distribute winter clothing and offer free medical services to the poor residents of the border area. We will continue such initiatives in the future,” he said.
Lt. Col. Abdullah Al Moin Hussain, along with Dr. Abdullah Al Mamun, Resident Medical Officer of Biral Upazila Health Complex, Medical Officer Dr. Taufiqa Islam Tanvi, and other officials, attended the event.
During the program, around 1,200 poor individuals received winter clothes, including 500 blankets, 300 pieces of children’s clothing, and 400 sweater-jackets. Simultaneously, approximately 700 patients benefited from free medical check-ups and medicines, provided jointly by BGB and Biral Upazila Health Complex.
A BGB spokesperson said that such humanitarian activities will continue as part of the organization’s commitment to serving border communities.
