BAGERHAT, Nov 28, 2025 (BSS)-Special prayers and Quran recitations were held across the district seeking the speedy recovery of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia. 

The district BNP unit, along with party-nominated candidates, organized the events across the district today. 

A Quran recitation and prayers were held this afternoon at the city's Swadhinata Udyan, followed by a discussion. Former district BNP president MA Salam attended the programme as the chief guest. 

District BNP member secretary Muzaffar Rahman Alam, joint convener Khadem Niyamul Nasir Alap, BNP leaders Shamsher Ali Mohan, Shahed Ali Robi, Syed Nasir Ahmed Malek, Sardar Liaquat Ali, and more than a thousand leaders and activists attended.

Speaking as the chief guest, MA Salam said, "Fascist Sheikh Hasina and her miscreants have brutally tortured BNP leaders and activists, including Begum Khaleda Zia. Yet, she fought to bring back democracy for the country and the people. Today, she is in the hospital due to illness. We wish her a speedy recovery."

Meanwhile, Bagerhat district BNP convener Engineer ATM Akram Hossain Talim organized a special prayer after Jumma prayers at his residence in Harinkhana. Party leaders and activists participated.

After Jumma prayers, a doa mahfil was held at Shat gambuj Mosque. Former district BNP president and former MP MAH Selim, along with more than a hundred leaders and activists, attended the programme. 

Special prayers were also offered at the house of Barrister Sheikh Mohammad Zakir Hossain, with participation from former MP Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, BNP leader Engineer Masud Rana, and other leaders and activists. 

Besides, prayers and munajat were held at various mosques across the district for Begum Khaleda Zia's speedy recovery.
