Abductor held, schoolgirl rescued from Narsingdi

RANGPUR, Nov 27, 2025 (BSS) - Members of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested an abductor and rescued a schoolgirl of Ulipur upazila in Kurigram district from Kazir Char village under Palash police station in Narsingdi.

According to a RAB press release, the arrested accused was identified as Md Nahid Hasan Biplob, 24, son of Md Nurnabi Mia of Umananda Karipara village under Ulipur police station in Kurigram.

The victim, an SSC examinee of 2025, had reportedly been subjected to repeated harassment by Biplob, who made obscene gestures and unsolicited proposals while she was on her way to and from school. The press release said the accused also attempted various provocations on several occasions.

As the girl rejected his advances, the accused along with his accomplices allegedly abducted her by forcibly picking her up in a microbus while she was going to a private tutor at around 8:00 am on March 25, 2025.

Following the incident, the victim's father filed a kidnapping case with Ulipur police station on May 17, 2025.

Acting on a tip-off, a joint team of RAB-13 (Rangpur Sadar Company) and RAB-11 (Narsingdi Camp) conducted a raid and rescued the girl from Kazir Char village at 12:40 pm on Wednesday. The prime accused was arrested during the operation.

The arrested individual and the rescued schoolgirl have been handed over to Ulipur police station for further legal action.
