KHULNA, Jan 20, 2026 (BSS) - The closing ceremony and prize distribution of the 54th Winter Sports Competition, organised by the Khulna Sub-Regional School, Madrasa and Technical Education Sports Association, was held this afternoon at the Khulna Zilla School ground.

Speakers at the programme highlighted the importance of sports in ensuring the physical and mental well-being of students, noting that sporting activities help nurture friendship, discipline and leadership qualities.

They also emphasised the need for teachers and guardians to remain vigilant in preventing students from excessive use of electronic devices. In addition, the speakers urged young athletes to uphold and preserve the long-standing sporting tradition of the Khulna region.

Director (College) of the Secondary and Higher Education, Khulna Region, S M Sazzad Hossain attended the event as the chief guest.

The programme was presided over by Director of the Secondary and Higher Education, Khulna Region, Md Kamruzzaman. Former District Education Officer Khondaker Ruhul Amin, Assistant Director (College) of the Secondary and Higher Education, Khulna Region, Md Inamul Islam, and Headmaster of Khulna Zilla School Mohammad Farukul Islam were present as special guests.

At the end of the ceremony, prizes were distributed among the winning students.
