DHAKA, Aug 10, 2026 (BSS)—Bangladesh opener Tanzid Hasan Tamim was shortlisted for the ICC player of the month award for July for the first time in his career.

He will compete against England’s Harry Brook and West Indies’ Justin Greaves for the monthly award.
Tanzid’s consistent form in Bangladesh’s Zimbabwe tour saw him made the shortlist. Even though Bangladesh fared badly in that series, Tanzid’s performance was standout.

His contributions in the ODI series in Harare saw him return 159 runs in three matches at an average of 53.00 and strike rate of 89.83. His good form crossed over to the T20I series in Bulawayo, where he added 140 more runs to his tally at an average of 70.00 and strike rate of 127.27, finishing the tour as the leading run-scorer for both white-ball series.

Tanzid’s consistency as an opening batter for Bangladesh in their tour of Zimbabwe helped set up their recovery from losses in the one-off Test match and ODI series to win the T20I series 2-1.

Brook led by example during England’s successful home series against India particularly in the T20 format where he was named the Player of the Series while Greaves’ all-round brilliance in home Tests against Sri Lanka and Pakistan helped the West Indies to victory over both.

Meanwhile, England captain Nat Sciver-Brunt, Sri Lanka batter Harshitha Samarawickrama and West Indies skipper Hayley Matthews have been shortlisted for the women’s award.
